Base Scent is a leave-on treatment that works with skin's biology.
September 16, 2026
By: Lianna Albrizio
For Future Society, skin care has been about cleansing, moisturizing, correcting, protecting and repairing. But caring for our bodies’ natural scent has been overlooked.
That’s why, Future Society has introduced its newest innovation: Base Scent. The unscented leave-on treatment works with skin’s biology to help the body smell good naturally.
Base Scent is the culmination of five years of research in the skin microbiome, skin pH and chemistry on how consumers can influence the scent compounds it produces. Personal scent emerges from the skin’s living ecosystem: its microbes, pH, and overall chemistry. It is unique to every person and fluctuates with daily life. Body odor is only one part of that story. The research behind Base Scent included nine scent-producing skin microbes studied; 479 nutrient interactions screened; more than 30 experimental studies completed; 10 unique data models developed; and 42 skin scent molecules measured.
Base Scent is not a deodorant, antiperspirant, body mist or traditional fragrance. It is a leave-on body treatment developed to work with the biology of the skin and help a person’s natural scent become more stable, neutral and pleasant over time. Base Scent can be applied to clean skin before deodorant, fragrance, lotion or other body care, or worn alone.
In a two-week study, 77% said Base Scent helped their body smell good on its own; 80% experienced fewer scent fluctuations throughout the day; 79% said their baseline scent became more neutral; and 75% said they felt more confident in their scent.
Base Scent is available on Sept. 15 at futuresociety.com.
